New Moon Greetings is a rising new card company offering elegant cards, gifts and fine art prints. Terry Del Percio and David Piemonte are the founders and owners, and run the company out of Gloucester, Massachusetts, America's oldest seaport and artist colony, located on beautiful Cape Ann.

Our Story

Life evolves in its own time. From the time we were both kids, and long before we met, each of us had a vision of creating a greeting card company, but our lives took us in other directions. Time passed. David worked in the Oriental rug business while developing his skill and passion for fine art photography. Late at night he would work in his darkroom experimenting with various lighting techniques and developing beautiful images. I worked in the corporate world and became a business consultant. Also a night owl, I would spend hours at night writing poetry and creating simple watercolor sketches.

In the year 2000, David and I met by chance. As we got to know each other, we realized that we had a dream in common. We pooled our talents and spent one year designing prototypes for the first printing that would launch New Moon Greetings in 2003.

What makes people actually pursue their dreams? It's different for everyone. The tragic events of September 11, 2001 certainly had a profound impact on our motivation to pursue our dream. It shook us, as it did everyone else. There comes a time when most people come up against the question, "what can we do to make the world a better place?" Our goal is simple. New Moon Greetings is our small way of making our planet a better place, simply by sharing good thoughts with the world.

Why New Moon?

We chose New Moon Greetings as our company name for a reason. The moon is symbolic of many things. It is a symbol of change, constant evolution and the endless circle of life. It also symbolizes feminine energy and compassion. The new moon is the beginning phase of the lunar cycle. Even though the new moon itself is not visible to the human eye, it represents the faith that all will begin again.

Many of our cards depict a Zen concept. The guiding force of Zen is the search for inner peace in the midst of chaos and disorder of the outside world. One Zen theme is the concept of "mu", which can be translated into terms of nothingness or space. This nothingness or space offers us a respite from the chaos, and it is where truly dedicated seekers find enlightenment and detachment from the external world. In Zen, "mu" is symbolized
by the moon.

We hope you enjoy our cards and their messages. Several of our customers have written to tell us that they have framed the cards instead of sending them! For those of you who see a particular image that speaks to you, we also offer museum-quality Giclée prints of all of the photographs you see depicted.

The Earth

In the spirit of the continuous cycle of life, we are mindful of preserving our planet and use earth-friendly materials whenever possible.  Our cards and prints are made with recycled paper, soy-based inks and non-toxic pigments.
