Photographer David Piemonte is a very unassuming and private person, yet he reveals a lot about himself through his photography. He has resided on Cape Ann, Massachusetts since 1980. Originally from New Jersey, David has had an interest in photography since the age of ten. His earliest influence came from his father Tom, who owned a local newspaper and encouraged David to take photographs for the weekly editions. It was during these early years when David began to look at the world in a different way.

After attending New England School of Photography in Boston, David traveled through Europe. The six months he spent there would prove to be a pivotal time in his artistic career. Particularly during his visit to Venice, he discovered the beauty and solitude of night photography. It was here, in the late hours of the night, that he had the city all to himself and could capture the shadowy detail of the architecture.

David draws much of his artistic inspiration from the simplicity of nature. This is clearly evident in his series of floral photographs that he creates in complete darkness with minimal amounts of light. The results are elegant black and white images that have an ethereal luminous quality. You'll find several of these images in our first series of cards. The creation of New Moon Greetings has allowed David to combine his photographic images with insightful quotations, which adds a new dimension to his work.
